Between the two pieces of music I prefer the song seasons of love. Puccini’s piece from “La Boheme” for me was harder to follow and a bit boring. I believe this is due to the fact that it is in a different language so I cannot tell which words go with the notes to give the romantic effect it seems the song should have. I did however enjoy her voice and the vowels and the resonance in her voice. I thought it was beautiful and drew you in. In seasons of love I enjoyed the harmony and the way the voices fit together as well as the lyrics.
In the music I listen to today I notice vibrato in pop songs that are more ballad like, songs that you can sing really hard in the car with your best friends. In these pop songs when they hold longer notes they will use vibrato and bring a different sound to their music.
In the piece that I have chosen for class there is not any vibrato the vocalist uses. Most of the notes are staccato and when the notes do become laggato they are steady notes holding one pitch.
